So, after changing the kernel to boot in /boot/efi/EFI/qubes/xen.cfg, what exactly did you do to solve the problem? Did you change the size of /boot/efi without reformatting your HD and re-installing qubes? If so, how? Please tell me. :) By the way, I remember that when I installed Qubes 4 (after having used an older one) I also increased the size of the separate EFI boot partition.
