Qubes offers USB isolation from dom0, using a sys-usb qube. If you only have one USB controller, and a USB keyboard, then you have to have the USB keyboard available in dom0, or you will not be able to unlock the encrypted disk. This means that *all* USB devices will be attached to dom0, so you are missing out on the protection offered by sys-usb.
