It is not necessary to switch from sys-whonix to sys-firewall. Whonix VMs will still continue to work as before. This announcement just means that you should switch from any Qubes Tor onion service domains (ending in ".onion") that you may have been relying on (e.g., for package repos or the Qubes website) to instead use the corresponding clearnet domain (usually qubes-os.org). Note that you can still use Tor with clearnet domains.
