Just like my ISP (Demon) at the moment.  Ping times to their mail 
servers at present vary from under 100ms to over 2500ms, totally at 
random.    It's also messing with my VPN and remote desktop app, not 
unexpectedly...

At least the local (at home) GPSDNPT server keeps things ticking nicely 
(to stay vaguely on toppic!)
