I'm in the process of compiling 2.6.34.1 on a Debian Lenny system that
I had as a spare. I want to see if my problems carry over to a
different machine. If it still doesn't work, I might try a FreeBSD
install. I've played around with FreeBSD before, but not to try and
set up a pps source.
As a non-FreeBSD person, I put up my simple notes on two versions of
FreeBSD here:

with more references to notes from others as well. If they help, great.
If they show me as a FreeBSD novice, that's spot-on.
