I just did a quick test with a windows desktop: keys "... ntp.keys" trustedkey 123 restrict source nomodify tos cohort 1 orphan 11 manycastserver 224.0.1.1 manycastclient 224.0.1.1 key 123 preempt multicastclient 224.0.1.1 key 123 preempt broadcastclient server CORPLAN007 key 123 iburst noselect server CORPWAN214 key 123 iburst preempt noselect pool us.pool.ntp.org iburst preempt Within 15 seconds ntp had mobilized 6 LAN servers, and 4 servers from the pool (reach of 0); By 7 minutes ntp had mobilized 6 servers from the pool (3 with reach of 77, 3 with reach of 37); By 10 minutes reach was 377, and ntp had already started pruning servers; By 15 minutes ntp had pruned the servers back down to 10 (7 from the pool); By 1hr, the poll rate for the pool had climbed from 1min to 4 min. By 2hrs, it had not tossed anymore servers, nor mobilized anymore from the pool. {Why did it reject some of the LAN servers? It did so, due to some of them doing testing with precision=-5, and using tos orphan 11 floor 4; (they're discipline coarse increments are 16.666ms, 1/60th sec)}. -- E-Mail Sent to this address <blackl...@anitech-systems.com> will be added to the BlackLists. _______________________________________________ questions mailing list questions@lists.ntp.org http://lists.ntp.org/listinfo/questions
