Every year, people tune into the Super Bowl--to watch commercials. The
spots garner almost as much fanfare as the game itself. The editors at
Crew Cuts, a New York edit house, wouldn't have it any other way. They
brew a special brand of mischievous, sometimes slapstick spots that
captivate, intrigue and entertain. A Pepsi commercial they worked on has
a vacuum cleaner robot eating Dave Chappelles pants. Their commercials
for other giants like Verizon, Visa, General Electric, CNN, Progressive
Insurance, Pizza Hut, Gillette, Dr. Pepper, Toys R Us, MasterCard, MTV
and L'Oreal are the stuff of Super Bowl halftime legend.
Crew Cuts recently dropped Avid for Final Cut Pro HD, in part to prepare

Sufjan Stevens recently released "The Avalanche--Outtakes and Extras
from the Illinois Album." Little secret: the "Illinois" album was
originally conceived as a double album, culminating in a musical collage
of nearly 50 songs. But as the project developed into an unwieldy epic,
it was cut in half.

Pianist/composer Thelonious Monk and tenor saxophonist John
Coltrane--genius mentor and budding genius--joined forces in a fabled
Monk-led quartet that worked steadily at New York's Five Spot Café for a
five-month period, between July and December 1957.
Earlier that year, they'd met at the recording studio on four occasions
