The intrepid and the jaunty versions are basically the same, so installing the jaunty version will not help, I am afraid. Upgrading the whole distribution to jaunty *may* help, because maybe there is some code changes in alsa. I think your problem may be with the audio settings: what are your audio settings? Are you using "ALSA: default" for all of the three settings?
