Hi All,

Wow, lots of questions - I thought news of a new version would spark
discussion, it's
good.

1. Bugs. Brian, you know I don't normally admit what bugs I've found, I
just fix them ... or try to. I might confirm that something is a bug if
someone else finds it though.

But on this occasion, I'll say what it was: moving to previous and next data
in the track view wasn't reliable. No-one found it, does no-one use CTRL+LEFT
and RIGHT? Well, they wouldn't if it didn't work properly!

2. Swing. Arthur has described this well. But I'll try and explain, without
using time signatures:

A regularly quantised series of notes will all be the same length, like this
(now this should get interesting with speech synthesisers for those who
use them):

dum, dum, dum, dum, dum, dum, dum,

If you swing that, you would get one long note, then a shorter one, like this:

dum,, duh dum,, duh dum,, duh dum,,

The amount of swing can be varied from what we shall call "straight", meaning
totally
regular, right through to totally over the top where the second note is
played at the same time as the third, the fourth and fifth together and
so on.

You can even do a "reverse swing", where notes are moved earlier instead of
later like this:

duh dum,, duh dum,, duh dum,, duh

Oh this is beginning to get confusing again, I'll stop writing. It's easier
explained
when you have the function to experiment with.

3. Auto channel split. Yes Leonard, this suggestion is on the list. It
would be quite useful if you work a lot with type 0 MIDI files, but I find
it quite quick to press ALT T M S.

4. Block operations. Copy and pasting of multiple tracks is also on the
suggestions list. I still need to work out how best to do this though because
a simplistic approach could result in what you were trying to copy getting
zapped during the process.

5. HTML Help. Yes, the HTML Help viewer does work better with Hal/Supernova
than
the older WinHelp system, but my primary reason is that apparently Vista
no longer supports Windows Help (.HLP), only HTML help (CM). Hence my
question,
how many people are using Vista?

Well, that's enough for now.

Hope this helps.

James.
