Would I have to do the changing of the volume, velocity and vreverb after or
before I record the track? I was also wondering how to get to the Master
Volume.

Hi, For your first point, bare in mind that midi format is reliant on the
keyboard or synth you use, but some tips to make things louder and less
mono include:
* Adding reverb to a track, see track properties.
* chorus also can help, but not too much, again in track properties.
as for volume, try playing with both the master volume in track properties
or the velocity offset tool, hit v on a track.
For trance music, looping is a good start, but keyboard synths aren't the
best for this genre. You need delay's, and filters for one, these are
available in xg but can be hard to get at. Delay especially has to be done
using specific midi messages. If you need help, feel free to contact me

and rather quiet? The reason I ask, is that when I had my volume control

my Control Pannel at 100% and my keyboard's volume as loud as it could

the file sounded that way to me. If you know of any way of changing this,
please let me know. Yesterday, when I consulted the help file and then
opened the program again, it gave me an error message that said can not
open Yamaha MIDI Out device. Then, I did it again today and an error
message came up and said can not open Yamaha MIDI In device. Can you
think of anything to fix this? Can you also think of anything else I can
do with this sequencer to make Trance Music?

Hi. This does indicate without a shread of a doubt that though you
thought you were recording, you weren't.
When you say the default QWS song playd bak, did it play through
microsoft
synth, or did it play back through your keyboard when you changed it to
the Yamaha midi out?
If it playd only through microsoft or other such synth, suggest you turn
your midi cables at the keyboard end around, because I think maybe you
have them in backwards.
When you pressed play in qws and got one click, this indicates to me
that
qws playd only one beat of the metronome because there is no midi data
on
the track.
To be certain of this, you can go to the file menu, alt f, and choose
song
properties, p, and see how many events are in your track. If it's a
low
number then your track did not record.
Try that and see if it helps any.
Also just as a test, set your port in the track properties to the
microsoft synth or other, basically anything that isn't your Yamaha usb,
and keep playing notes on your keyboard, turning the midi cables from
socket to socket untill you hear something.
It's probably just a case of the midi in and midi out is in the wrong
socket and vice verser.

Keyboard was through its own built in speakers. I did use a metronome
during the recording process. When I tried to play my recording back, I
heard a click at the beginning of my recording that sounded like the
metronome and that was it. The rest was complete silence. Is there

A microphone shouldn't stop sound from coming back through the
soundcard, no. Also, if you selected the usb midi device as an
output,
you wouldn't have been using your computer's sound card to hear
playback. It would have been the keyboard or module that was at the
other end of your usb device.
When I was installing the
USB drivers, it said something about not beeing compatible with
Windows
XP. I chose the button to install the sophtware anyway. Do you think
that was the wright thing to do?
I have a Yamaha USB midi interface and when I install the drivers for
it, the same error message comes up, but it works perfectly without
any
problems whatsoever.
The fact that QWS chooses to show it up in the list of ports means
that
it is alright to use, so don't worry too much. If we can fix why your
playback issue is being annoying though, that would of course be good
for you.
