As an experiment, I tried creating a note transformation that would invert the song's octaves, but not the song itself. So the song would be in the same key with the same notes, but the lowest octave would be played in the highest octave, and the highest octave would be played in the lowest octave. I had some rather interesting results. it worked, but it seems to think the song is four semitones higher than it actually is, resulting in the song being transformed up four semitones. However, the octave breaks are still at the c notes, leaving you with a song that is now in E instead of C, but with the right note replacements. The work-around of course, is to transpose it down four semitones first, but I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong. I've attached two midi files and the notexfrm.ini file. shortstory.mid is the original, and shortstory2.mid is the inverted copy with my transformation. If anyone knows what i'm doing wrong, please let me know.
