That is a very interesting problem. Sounds like some midi messages aren't being sent correctly. Does anything actually work? When you say some notes are missing, are some actually there too? The only thing I can think of is make sure the midi ports are connected to the opposite sides, so the midi in port is connected to midi out port on the keyboard, and midi out is connected to midi in. If that doesn't work, you might want to get a different USB interface just to see if it makes a difference. What keyboard are you using? It probably won't make too much of a difference, unless it doesn't do well with midi. The only keyboards that don't are probably old ones, and maybe the very basic beginner ones.
