Hi,
Glad to hear the buffer thing worked for you.
The trade off to using a bigger buffer size is exactly what you experience,
latancy. You can try the asio for all driver, which is supposed to be a generic
asio driver to work for all soundcards, but the only success I had with it was
shortlived, and it didn't even work properly. I couldn't figure it out, but
that's normally what happens when I try to do things on my own without knowing
much about it. *smile*
Many others have had better luck though.

Now, that is even stranger why it would work with QWS and not VST Host.
You might want to read the article on the QWS website on setting up qws
with vst plug-ins. They might fix the missing notes problem.
Also in VST Host, you might want to go to the menu bar, devices, and wave,
to make sure your input and output ports are set correctly, and the buffer size
is big enough if you're not using an asio driver. For input and output I am
using my soundcard obviously, and for sampling rate I use 44100 or higher, and
buffer size I have between 600 and 2400, depending on the sample rate. Higher
sample rates need bigger buffers. All of this may or may not help the audio
problem, but there are also additional audio settings somewhere which I did
need to adjust once.
then, in QWS, you might want to play some notes to make sure everything
works. You probably already have, but it's a good idea just to check.
If none of this works, maybe we can talk about it off list. I almost have
to hear the problems like noisy sound to know what might be causing it.
Anyone else have any ideas?

That is a very interesting problem. Sounds like some midi messages
aren't being sent correctly.
Does anything actually work? When you say some notes are missing, are
some actually there too?
The only thing I can think of is make sure the midi ports are connected
to the opposite sides, so the midi in port is connected to midi out port on the
keyboard, and midi out is connected to midi in.
If that doesn't work, you might want to get a different USB interface
just to see if it makes a difference. What keyboard are you using? It probably
won't make too much of a difference, unless it doesn't do well with midi. The
only keyboards that don't are probably old ones, and maybe the very basic
beginner ones.
