Hi,
Thanks for all of the feedback, I now know what d means. But I still have a
couple questions about w.
1. What does it mean when you say that w is a version of the sound where it
pans based on the key? It reminds me of KSP but I think there's something
different.
2. I've also read responses that w is also a wider version of a sound, which I
do understand. I guess I'm still confused on which it is.

hi,
Your guesses as to the meanings of d, and w are correct. d is a darker sound
than the default, and w, is for sounds that pan based on the key. KSP in fact
means key scale panning, which is exactly what's happening. the further left on
the keyboard you go from around middle c, the further left your sound goes.
ditto for going right.
hth,
Arthur.

Just a stab in the dark, KSP might mean Keyboard Sensitive Pressure,
indicating the sound has aftertouch response built in. The W might mean Wide,
the D might mean Dark.

Subject: QWS List question about abbreviations in instrument names
Hi list,
Yet another question. When going through the XG instrument list, there are
some instruments with the letters KSP at the end. Those instruments pan further
to the left with lower notes, and more to the right with higher notes.
But with GS and maybe other instrument lists, things are different. The
first three instruments of the GS instrument list, are piano1, piano1w, and
piano1d. I really don't notice a difference between the three, but maybe I'm
missing something. Does anyone know what those letters mean?
Thanks.
