Hallo There, In my mind, i've played with the following suggestion. I had a little discussion on msn about it today, which made me post it to the list. I'm curious what you all think.
My suggestion concerns instrument lists. I happen to have a Roland Juno-Stage myself, a unit with over thousand built-in sounds. Using an instrument list, i sometimes find it hard to navigate it. First letter navigation is possible, but when you want an acoustic bass, you have to press the 'a' key multiple times. It is not possible to use more than one letter for quick navigation. If that would be possible, it could be a big step forward. My idea, however, is the possibility to group the instruments into categories. For my Juno-Stage, for example, i would like a separate category for the user bank, the gm2 set, the separate drum categories and srx-board i'd like to buy in the future. I think it won't be a huge change to the current instrument lists, as most of them have the patches categorized by comments already. I know there are some people who don't use instrument lists that frequently and prefer program/bank navigation. But i'm also sure there are people who will benefit from such a change.
