Is there a resource somewhere where these abbreviations can be found? I
haven't seen anything yet, maybe i'm just not looking hard enough.

They did it because they had too many characters in the name for it to fit
on the screen of the device, and it became a convention.

Hello,
I was wondering why I have seen abbreviations in instrument list files.
I mean, I do not know why they mean. I am looking at the edirol
orchestral instrument lists right now, and I also see duplicates.
II would just like to know more about why the creator decided to do it.
If anybody can answer my question, that would be great,
