I added this softsynth yesterday, and discovered some interesting things. It's
huge, with over a thousand sounds in its basic playlist, and some of them are
even useful. (it's got a lot of those little snippets of sounds with things
like brass stabs, guitar riffs, and such that can be less useful)
The thing that is interesting is that it only uses controller 0 to change banks
-- there is no least significant bit involved, so instead of bank 1 (as
opposed to bank 0) activated by a bank number of 128 it's accessed by a bank
number of 1.
I'm connecting to it by using a virtual MIDI cable, the Sonic Foundry Virtual
MIDI Router, which gives me an error when I start QWS but still works. It also
gives me four ports, so I'll add other sound sources in time.
This was a free download from E-mu, and it's a good option if you need sounds
for more than 16 MIDI Channels. I've built an instrument definition file for it
if anyone decides to use it.
