Hi, I am using midioke. With vst host and other plugins it works
perfectly but i wil try the stand alone version. I will try run things
in reversed order, first proteus and then QWS. Can you please send me
the definition file?
thanks

You have to install a virtual MIDI application like MIDIYoke or the Sonic
Foundry Virtual MIDI Router. This allows you to access the standqalone version
from QWS. You also have to start Proteus VX first, and this will give you an
error when QWS starts, but it's not a problem, it's just QWS trying to
initialize a port that is already in use.
I've got a complete instrument definition file for the Proteus VX which I can
send if you're interested. I used codes to reflect the sound type based on the
VX's patch list info, as it included this information. (With how many sounds it
has not doing this would result in madness)

Hi Nicole,
I saved your e-mail to read later and today i installed it. Are you using vst
or stand alone version? I tryed both but nothing is playing out. Do i need
load. something or whatever? Or maybe I didn't understand how the bank
selection works so i am nod sending correct instrument numbers.
thanks

I added this softsynth yesterday, and discovered some interesting
things. It's huge, with over a thousand sounds in its basic playlist, and some
of them are even useful. (it's got a lot of those little snippets of sounds
with things like brass stabs, guitar riffs, and such that can be less useful)
The thing that is interesting is that it only uses controller 0 to change banks
-- there is no least significant bit involved, so instead of bank 1 (as
opposed to bank 0) activated by a bank number of 128 it's accessed by a bank
number of 1.
I'm connecting to it by using a virtual MIDI cable, the Sonic Foundry Virtual
MIDI Router, which gives me an error when I start QWS but still works. It also
gives me four ports, so I'll add other sound sources in time.
This was a free download from E-mu, and it's a good option if you need sounds
for more than 16 MIDI Channels. I've built an instrument definition file for it
if anyone decides to use it.
