Also, using MIDI to create faux delay has other benefits. You can put your
echoes on different MIDI channels and then pan them differently to create
some interesting bounces. Also the AKAI MIDI DDL box (I have one) allowed
you to shift the octave of the delay up or down, which is a useful effect
sometimes, and you can even do slight variations of the sound if your
instrument or sound source will support it.

Hi,

By MIDI effects, we normally mean MIDI Control Change messages and certainly
you can add these in QWS. The problem then is, does your synth accept them?

Unfortunately, not all synths support all controllers - and the only thing I
can suggest is to consult the MIDI Implementation Chart at the back of the
manual for your synth.

If you want to go down the route of making a MIDI for a specific synth and
you're not phased by lots of hexadecimal numbers, your synth may be able to
accept certain system exclusive messages which might configure an effect
unit in your particular synth. I can't give specific details here because,
being exclusive, they are different for every synth - again, details in your
synth manual.

Finally though, you can easily simulate a kind of delay effect by
duplicating a track, then Time Gliding it a little, then decreasing the
volume. It's best to use a second channel so you can use the track Volume to
set the overall volume of the delay sound, rather than reducing velocity of
the notes.

Hope this helps.

With best regards,

James.
