Hi James,
wow amacing.
Then I could maybe use QWs, and MidiYoke for live performance?

Do all VSTs work with this solution. Like Session drummer in Sonar, Ivory Piano and so on?

Thanks for inspiration!

Best regards
Brian

Hi,

In VstHost, you set up which VST instruments (which are often synths
with many sounds) go on which MIDI Yoke port.

So, (picking fictitious names of VST's), assume I loaded a VST called
"My amazing super synth" and put it on Yoke 1. Then I also loaded a
second VST called "Brailliant pianos" and linked that to Yoke 2.

Now in QWS, I could either use the piano sound and the string sound
from "My amazing super synth" in which cawse, I'd set the Port to Yoke
1 and choose different MIDI channels and different program numbers.

Alternatively, I could use the strings from "My Amazing Super Synth"
on Yoke 1 for track 1, and a piano sound from "Brailliant Pianos" on
Yoke 2 on track 2.

It all depends on what VST has the sound you want.

Note that MIDI Yoke as standard I think has 8 ports. Note that's 8
MIDI ports, each supporting 16 channels, giving a possible maximum of
128 MIDI channels, not just 8 channels.

Note also that you can set "friendly" names for each MIDI port in QWS.
If you keep the same setup, it can be helpful to assign friendly names
to your ports so you don't wonder "now, what's on Yoke 1 again?".

I hope this helps.

With best regards,

James.

well, somewhere on the track propperties you can choose the port for
each track. When you are into the track list you just press enter on
each track and it will let you choose and set the channel and port for
each one.
