Hi Seth,
Good to hear from you and thanks for all your questions. Nicole has given
you some good answers.
To add to what has been said so far:
MIDI is just the instructions for what to play, not the actual sound. So,
the sound will come out of your keyboard speakers, that's normal.
You can make the sound come out of your PC by using an audio cable, such as
a jack to jack, to connect for example a line out or headphone output of
your keyboard to the line in of your PC. The type of cable you'll need will
depend on the model of keyboard and computer.
Regarding an instrument list, yes, we'd need the model of your keyboard to
do that. But, as Nicole has said, as you hav3e a Yamaha device, you could
start by using the XG list as a start.
You mentioned using channels with MIDI Yoke. Basically, it works just the
same as a hardware device: you can choose a MIDI Yoke port and then you have
16 possible MIDI channels you can use. MIDI Yoke normally gives you 8
different ports, so you have the possibility of loading seveal VST
instruments, like having many synthsisers.
So, for example, you can set up a VST to receive MIDI from In from MIDI Yoke
3. Then in QWS, you set the Port for each MIDI track to Out to MIDI Yoke 3.
You can then have multiple tracks in QWS, for example:
Piano; channel 1; Out to MIDI Yoke 3;
Bass; Channel 2; Out to MIDI Yoke 3
Guitar; channel 3; Out to MIDI Yoke 3
etc...
You m mentioned there's a delay when using VSTs with MIDI Yoke. This might
depend on the VST you are using, but there are settings you can adjust in
MIDI Yoke to try and get the best results. For example, in my copy (which
may not be the latest version), there is a Devices menu and you can find
some settings for Wave and ASIO.
Be aware that if you turn the latency down too much, you can instead
sometimes get little breaks in the music. Too much latency, and as you have
found, there is a delay between playing the note and it sounding.
Finally, you were asking about controller numbers. In the back of the QWS
manual, you can find a list of the more common ones.
Hope this helps,
James.

Subject: QWS List Songs you have made
Hi I'm on the list but realant haven't posted. I would like to see some
songs you have made with QWS Also I have some questions.
1. My yamahaw keyboard plays out through the keyboard speakers insted of
QWS. How can I fix this or is this not possible. It is connected to midi
through USB cable.
2 Can Someone send me a instrument list for my yamaha G portable that is
what it says in the midi port list. I don't know what model is.
3 Do you have to use channels in midi yoke. Every time I play vst's they
hav a very bad lag. Do I have to use channel 10 for vst drums.
