Hi Niklas,
To answer your first question, all the QWS installer does, besides
copying the program to your computer, is create a desktop icon and set
up the association of MIDI files with the program. The program itself is
self-contained, so its folder can be copied to any location you choose.
It is indeed possible to capture bulk dump messages with QWS. I usually
do this with my Yamaha PSR-S975 by inserting a track, setting its
channel to 0, pressing Record, then initiating the bulk dump from the
keyboard. How you request a bulk dump depends on which hardware you have.
I, too, prefer the simplicity of using QWS with hardware. I do backing
tracks for a living, and find it much easier to sequence with QWS,
rather than using a full DAW. It will be interesting to hear your
hardware setup.

Gavin

Hi to all,
my Name is Niklas and I am new on here and new to QWS as well. I am
blind and more Kind ofa Hardware guy in Terms of Music Instruments. I
think that QWS can be helpful together with Keyboards, synths and the
like. I am not against complete DAW’s in General, but if a Tiny
program like QWS, wich don’t Need a powerful Computer can do the Job,
I prefer such Things.
My first Question is: Is there a portable Version of QWS available or
possible to make as well? I just found the installer, but to have a
portable Version would be nice as well.
Another Question: As I researched on Hardware synths, I stumbled
across Midi Dumps/patch Dumps. Is it possible to make and Send as well
as importing and exporting them with QWS? I found the idea amazing to
use the PC as Kind of a preset storage with These Dumps and send them
to the Instrument directly, if i understood this correctly.
And if it is not too offtopic here or if it is okay to talk About, I
am interested in recommendations regarding Synths, samplers and such
wich we Blind users can use. I can share what my Setup is at the
Moment as well, but only if that is okay.
I hope for a good time on here.
Best Regards
Niklas
