There are numerous JS libraries for syntax highlighting. I have never tried highlight.js yet, but I wrote something for SyntaxHighlighter which might be easily translated to highlight.js: http://yihui.name/en/2010/09/syntaxhighlighter-brush-for-the-r-language/
