*What you will learn:*

This 5-day course (4 hours per day) walks you through turning raw animal
sound recordings into meaningful data, all in R. You’ll leave with toolkit,
workflows, and confidence to apply acoustic analyses in your own work. Key
topics include:

   -

Fundamental bioacoustic concepts: what animal acoustic signals are, how
to think about variation, what biologically meaningful differences look
   like. PR Stats

   -

Working with acoustic data in R: learning to use “wave” objects and
other audio formats; importing, manipulating, converting files. PR Stats

   -

Spectrograms & sound features: building and interpreting spectrograms
(including choices like window size, overlap etc.), using Fourier
transform; extracting frequency, amplitude, dominant frequency, frequency
range etc. via the *seewave* package. PR Stats

   -

Annotations: bring in annotations from Raven Pro; refine and manage them
using *warbleR*; organizing, cleaning, and quality‐controlling annotated
   data. PR Stats

   -

Quantifying signal structure: comparing approaches; exploring different
metrics; working with tools to assess harmonic content, signal-to-noise
ratios, possibly more advanced features depending on data. PR Stats

   -

Quality control & ensuring data integrity: checking recording /
annotation quality; handling audio file formats; ensuring consistency and
   accuracy in measurement. PR Stats

------------------------------

*Who this is for:*

   -

Anyone working with animal sound: ecologists, behavioural biologists,
   conservationists, field researchers
   -

People who already know R at a basic level (data import/export, plotting
etc.) and want to apply it to acoustic datasets
   -

Those aiming to build workflows / pipelines for analysing recordings
   across many individuals or species
