Hi,

...

In trying to be a little helpful, though ...

Initially I installed several Bioconductor packages,
using biocLite() e.g.
biocLite("beadarray", type = "source")

You don't actually need to install bioconductor packages from source
-- they're already compiled as a 4-way fat binary for Leopard as of
bioconductor 2.3 ... while it doesn't help you much here, perhaps it's
good to know to save you install/compile time in the future.

Can Simon Urbanek weigh in on this?
I've been keeping an eye on R-SIG-Mac and have been seeing
repeated references in the last few weeks about
installing from source for 64-bit R.

e.g.:

If you are doing 64bit computing you need
to install from source.

PS: When you are using the Package Installer, make sure you select
"CRAN (sources)"!

You don't need extra library paths for 64-bit packages, but you want
to use type='source' in install.packages for 64-bit (as the site
says).

Cheers,
Simon

Any guidance appreciated.
