Nancy,

Thanks for the suggestion. This sounds wonderful! I'll bring it up at our con
meeting today and let you know. I suspect we'll want to do it.

  Dear Rick,
I do have a suggestion for you. This is a workshop that was done years
ago at Astronomicon, was a great success, and then somehow never got repeated.
It was called "Maim 'Em Right," and it featured medical personnel answering
questions from the audience, all writers and aspiring writers, on the real
consequences of various injuries, operations, and future alterations to the
human body. The idea was that writers could get help with realistic details
for the mayhem they were causing to their fictional characters.
If you decide to go with this, I know at least one nurse-practitioner
(with a lot of emergency room experience) who would probably consent to be on
the panel. And maybe we could dig up a doctor from somewhere?
  Best,
  Nancy Kress

    Hi, everyone.

As some of you know, I'm doing the programming for Astronomicon-11. I'm
looking for people interested in giving workshops or presentations.

My goal at this Con is to provide a good variety of programming for
everyone. We're only doing two tracks of programming this year, so I want to
make every time slot count. I want attendees to have a difficult time choosing
what to go to because they're all good, not trying to decide between the lesser
of two evils.

I also want more workshops and presentations than we've had in the past.
People should come away from this Con feeling that it was time and money well
spent and that they gained something from it in addition to having a great
time. If I do my job right, no one will be bored.

So, if you have an idea for workshop or presentation that you'd like to
give or that you'd like to see done, please let me know. I'd especially like
more activities for writers, since we have a lot of them in the area.
