Some ideas: Anyone know a vet that could wrangle a discussion of mythical beasts? I remember my kid stumping an Astronomicon panel with a question about the location of a centaur's stomach.
Also, vampires have become such a strong genre, we should probably include a panel on them. Sparkling or gory? Mostly harmless teeny- bopper fluff or is there more to it? A steampunk panel would be a big draw for me. Compare and contrast with Cyberpunk? What makes them punky? I would very much enjoy having some of our astronomer participants to do a panel or presentation on Lunar/Mars programs, robot and air- breathing. World of Warcraft (World of War-crack?) - I'm thinking about having an R-SPEC meeting about this. Non-playing writers need to know what the big draw is there. Why a lot of young people (most often men) turn from books to MMORPGs and get hooked.
