I find the lack of response on this thread ... disappointing? With the fervor that some of our membership exhibits, I expected much more activity. Are people going and just not commenting? Or does the lack of response mean that only Alicia, Alysse, and I have actually made arrangements to go, with Craig very much wanting to go? I mean, who knows when this con will even be on the same continent, let alone a one day drive away? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- I might like to, but I can't afford a week at a con, even before being laid-off in April (I have a temp job now) *and* have some identity issues that keep me from getting a passport until I can resolve them... This temp assignment, BTW is four 10 hour days, 3:15pm-1:45am, monday-thursday, so I've not made meetings, either. Even so, I *will* be going to a weekend con in Houston, TX on the 26th (fortunately, it falls in my normal time off, and the money for this was saved and set aside long ago): http://www.apollocon.org/ But the con (good though it is) isn't my primary motivation for going that far, this GoH (whom I've known since 1985 [at the first con I ever attended] and is originally from Dayton, OH) actually is: http://www.apollocon.org/guests.html#jarvis http://www.geocities.com/stardolphin2/kandy00.jpg (1985) http://www.geocities.com/stardolphin2/meandkj2.jpg (1990?) http://www.geocities.com/stardolphin2/meandkj2.jpg (1990?) http://www.geocities.com/stardolphin2/Kandy13t.bmp http://www.geocities.com/stardolphin2/meandkj3t.jpg http://www.geocities.com/stardolphin2/Kandy19t.jpg Those who do make Worldcon, absolutely enjoy yourselves!
