The mere fact that the default mode of Chicken is not R5RS doesn't make it
"not really count".  (What is the default out-of-the-box mode of PLT?)
Chicken is a widely used and actively developed Scheme implementation.
If I had the time and energy, I'd add a R6RS-compliant mode myself.
