With all due respect, in a device with a relatively sophisticated processor and an OS, it should be simple to ensure whatever external happenings or not, an alarm sounds at the due time.
They days of Slim Devices are over with the new Squeeze OS. So reliance on server events either owner's server or centralised MySB.com should be removed wherever possible for fundamental functions such as this. It is not as if there are any steadfast rules to really follow. The Classic and Duet had no alarm function that was intended as a reliable alarm. The Boom came with internal clock, and backup alarm.
