The only failure I've found is during a power failure. With the battery accessory, if the Radio is automatically shut off after 20 minutes of inactivity, even though the Radio will be automatically turned on, if the network is down (as it would be during a power failure), the backup alarm fails to sound. (However, if the power failure is within 20 minutes of the alarm, and the radio is not auto-shut down, the backup alarm will sound) They are very close to a reliable alarm.
