I think the AAC decoder is not as solid as MP3 and WMA ones. The AAC decoder in Radio and Touch were tweaked in the latest release mainly for performance. Perhaps there are some other issues which cause reboots/stops. However unless it can be reproduced - it is difficult to solve.
