I deduce that I'm suffering the effects of the EU outage that mherger

Yes.

reports. (BTW, who is mherger?

Me, a real human with a family, a home, two cats and no car.

I presume it's the same
mherger<at>logitech.com that my forum registration email referred me to?

Yes.

Is he/she then a 'formal' Logitech support person? Or perhaps they are

I'm an engineer, not support. Though I do try to support users wherever I can.

an 'informal' one - hence the babelfish bit!? If informal then that

Nope, that's more of a legacy: back in the days when there was a company called SlimDevices I got involved in SB development by providing a German localization (and later on bits of French, too).

Here's the rhetorical bit... Why is there no communication from Logitech
on any of this?

I don't have our CEO's phone number, I'm sorry. You'll have to accept my little person as "Logitech" right now :-).

(no mention on logitech.com that I can see). And since there have been
so few me toos since Ary raised the problem I guess this means there are
few SBR (or indeed SBX device) users out there now.

We got dozens of new followers on Twitter today. YES!

On the serious side: many people prefer to start a new thread on the same topic complaining there was no other thread about it, when there actually is more than a hand full of them.

Sorry, didn't want my first post to turn in to a kind of rant but it
slightly turned out that way!

It's ok, no worries. You've just summarized a lot of common thoughts. And while I've been typing this, a buddy is arriving, getting up to speed on the recent development. No, we don't give up yet.
