While we're able to rebuild the full firmware for the Radio, it's only
rebuilding using the existing binary driver for the Atheros WiFi chip.
And there isn't a newer Atheros binary driver, to my knowledge. So
updating the firmware is unlikely to help.

There are reports from some users that they didn't notice problems with
older Radio firmware, but see it with newer firmware. But AFAICT this is
anecdotal, rather than methodically tried and tested. I didn't tried to
roll my Radios back to older firmware, for example. Success there
probably depends more on the older Radio firmware having older Atheros
binaries that are more stable, which seems unlikely to me.
