I have years of owning and using touch, boom, radios, and have never experienced this...
A radio (synced) playing full volume, with no control over anything - volume, play/pause, wheel, buttons... Here's what happened. I setup a non technical friend with a touch and a radio (#1), on a picoreplayer (as LMS server only). Not only is he barely able to navigate controls and menus that we find natural, he gets frustrated. Maybe I should have steered him to Sonos :) Bear with me, I want to give as much detail as possible So, I set him up with both players always synced, with the "power on/off separately" option enabled for each player. This way he can turn each on/off to play when any other player is playing, and not have to think about sync/unsync. Maybe group players might be more appropriate, I digress. He bought another radio on ebay. I did a factory reset, but might not have looked for a firmware upgrade (in retrospect). I setup radio #2 the same as the others. All worked well for a few days. I stopped over yesterday and music was playing and he handed me radio #2 that was playing full blast (the other 2 were playing too). The volume would not turn down, so I thought about fixed volume, but all controls did not function, play/pause, nav wheel turn, press, etc. I was able to press and hold power to power down. Then I powered back up, same thing, 100% volume, but the menus worked. I went to settings-> audio and 100% fixed volume was indeed ticked (how did that happen?). I unticked it, no change, still full volume. I went back to sync menu, and unsynced it, but it kept playing, full volume. The radio was still synced with the other 2 players that were still playing, yet unresponsive. I finally powered off, did a factory reset, and this time, I did check and upgrade the firmware. While I was at it, I checked and updated LMS on his pCP (TI think he's on 7x). When I was done, I left with everything working normal again. But I am concerned if there is something goofy with the new radio, or if he managed to mangle something in settings, trying to do something else? Anyone seen this?
