Thanks everyone for the suggestions. As wrapping my Session calls in a Timeout block had no effect, and wrapping them in a Terminator block resulted in Terminator terminating my web server if the command did /not/ hang, I've re-implemented in Net:SSH. Might be something to do with SSH, not sure.
