I'm surprised no-one has mentioned performance at all. I like haml quite a bit, and use it for probably 80% of my personal stuff, but when speed matters it's ERB or Erubis all the way.
To quote http://nex-3.com/posts/dates/2009/4 - "Haml 2.0 is 3.24 times slower than ERB, or 2.42 times slower with the :ugly option enabled" I know benchmarks are often quite contrived, but the performance difference is something to keep in mind, especially if you run a high volume site.
