  You should have it. I'm not sure how to do in XP but in W2k you would do this
 
   Right Click on My Computer > Properties > Enviroment Variables. 
   Then add them

        Are you saying we should have or should not have a C:\temp or c:\tmp. 
        I have XP Pro and do not have either of these folders.  I do have a 
        c:\windows\temp.
