On the server:

My Computer (right click) --> Computer Management --> Shared Folders -->
Open Files

Look for users with open files that are not currently on the system, or
duplicate entries.

If some machine does hold a lock on one of those files, your admin can use
the server to determine who it is.  That often reveals a forgotten
workstation, or someone running multiple sessions of R:Base (perhaps some
that are, for whatever reason, no visible to the user).
