Nothing special here, A HP 4200N laser printer, Dell boxes, with 768 K of
memory. We scanned in the image, and use in the page style band of a report.
There are some tricks to getting it right. After you place the image, right
click and select (auto display, center, stretch, visible) and size your image.
You have to work a bit to get your fields placed properly, but if you have some
data in the table, you can watch your progress using report preview. Its a
real time saver for us.

I am probably quite late and don't know all the details of what you are
trying to do, but we have all our state sales tax forms and our state and
federal quarterly reports loaded into Rbase as an image. We use them as
background to run all those reports.
They work perfectly and are accepted by all those gov agencies. Beats
filling out all those by hand, and NO typos.

add my .02 - the IRS and NYS have payroll forms in PDF - if we could load
them into a report format and have the ability to populate - think of the
possibility

David,
I put in an enhancement request to allow importing of pdfs for use in
reports, as well as suggesting that RBase have an option to generate
editable forms, as reports, using the Adobe LiveCycle system, some
months
ago. When I last looked I saw that these were both 'slated for RBase
V9', so
hopefully the features you are after will be available in the future.
Perhaps Razzak may be able to let us know when the new version is
likely to
be released ?

A custom program would have to be written to read the structure and
elements
(objects) of the PDF Form, then propagate as closely as possible the
representation of those objects and their layout in the textual
representation
of an RBase Form.
When you consider the nuances (properties) of each of the elements of a
PDF
form, you can imagine the task to reproduce / interpret it into its
RBase
(or
any other ) counterpart is less than trivial.
