Gunnar,

To exclude the default end of character, try the following technique and
see what you get:

Example:

SET WIDTH 700
SET LINES 0
SET EOFCHAR OFF
OUTPUT myfile.txt
-- do what you have to do here ...
OUTPUT SCREEN
SET EOFCHAR ON
SET LINES 19
SET WIDTH 79
RETURN
