FWIW - In case this helps someone else, the problem I described below was caused by the existence of an old RBENGINE8.DLL file in the \RBTI\RBG8 folder. Maybe at one time the RB*.DLL files were installed in the RBG8 folder instead of the SYTEM32 folder? Whatever the case, getting rid of the old file fixed the problem.
