Paul
Since they ran a Unload All procedure on the live DB files I did not think
there would be anything to recover
and their other "backup zip" files were 3-4 wks old, I told them they would
have to re enter the data.
I wonder, is there a way to make Autochk find bad indexes?
Thanks
Marc

For some reason I can only picture the screen and a wav from "Jurassic
Park'
"Ah Ah Ah Don't touch that button!" And you know they would.
Good Luck Marc your hands our full. Also most holidays are celebrated on
Monday, just food for thought for those weeks. People do not understand
what we try to do for them and they break it anyways. We rack our brain
and
try!
Any luck with Rscope? If you post the results I bet it would get answered
here and it can be confusing at first, be patient (no pun intended).
Sincerely,
Paul D.

Paul
Some users will only learn the hard way.
My new start up code checks the date of the Monday.zip file, if it is
older
than 1 day give them
a nice big red and yellow warning message. I think I will add a wave file
that will get their attention.
Thanks

Marc-
Just a thought here and I DON'T KNOW your agreements w/clients etc.. but
have you ever thought about off-site backups and perhaps having RBase
running this routine twice daily as a service to these people. Give them
an
ability to opt out or run as they should.
You could encrypt the data, zip and ftp all with RBase Programs. I bet
most
of these b-u's are kept in house. Great unless somebody steals the
server
etc.. A bonus for you is the data is a bit easier to recover and you
could
run a routine (if they opted) to try to circumvent any issues before they
have an issue.
Just thinking out loud here. Hope it helps and good luck with Rscope and
do
read carefully. I recovered a Db that was pretty messed up. Two days
and
you could also if needed ask RBTI to assist.
Sincerely,
Paul Dewey
** Note, since I got rid of one employee, I have NO errors anymore.
Funny
how the Db fixed itself, or was it the Db didn't like this person? Not
joking!

Hi Bill
Since all data stopped at a certain point in 5-6 tables I think they must
have connected to a backup. Of course the staff says they ran the
Autochk
procedure daily. I told the doctor, if your staff ran that procedure
daily
and the dates of Monday.zip is 1 month old you have major
computer problems, They should have a 5 day history of backups in the
daily
zip files but only 1 was the correct date and of course
it was missing the data. The other 4 files were weeks old.
Now, I am looking for the Ghost Busters cause there is something strange
in
the hood!
Thanks
Marc
