I know your pain, Larry. I have the same nightmare. I've got Reals used where INTs would make more sense and Reals where I would like to convert to double for the reasons stated by Bill.

I prefer NUMERIC. But this system goes back to DOS pre-history (the original version was actually carved on stone using the RChisel editor) and it would be a nightmare to have to change now.
