Just so you know, 9.1 versions are not written to address 64 bit versions of windows. The Delphi compiler is 32 bit.

32 bit software will still run on 64 bit Windows as long as the installation program is smart enough to distinguish between 32 bit and 64 bit Windows as the current installers for RBase 9.x are.

So, Daniele, the hurdle you face is placing the RBase files in the correct location to make it function properly.

Since 6.5 is no longer supported, unless someone has already figured it out and is willing to share with you, I believe you are on your own with this one.

One has to ask the motivation for your client wanting to use the 64 bit server version to begin with.

Unless there is some specific 64 bit software that runs on the server that can take advantage of the choice of O/S, I don't understand the benefit (excluding the extra GBs of addressable memory) if the server is mostly a file server.

Hi Daniele,

Depending the Windows 64 version (win 2003 64 - win xp 64 - win vista 64 - win 7 64 - win 2008 64 or win 2008 r2 64) it is possible to run 32 bit software on windows 64 in 32 bit compatible mode.

If there is buget I would sugest to update the R:BASE software from 6.5 to the latest release 9.0 or 91 64 bit to benefit from both new features and more memory support of Win 64 systems.

Best regards,
Marco
