To All:

Cables to Go has a nifty open system that will accommodate both IDE and SATA drives, as well as micro-drives that connects a hard drive to a computer via USB port. No need to install a drive into an enclosure.

Dennis,

Also, you can get an external enclosure (IDE or SATA), install your current
"damaged" drive and then connect it to another computer via USB; there is a
very good chance that you will able to see and access/recover your files if
you do not have backups. I keep enclosures with me at all times and I have
been able to recover data from damaged drives from clients, at least a half
a dozen times in the last year alone; they are relatively inexpensive
($10-$20).

Subject: [RBASE-L] - O/T- Operating System not found

On a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop with XP (about 6 years old), the
rather ominous message probably indicates the hard drive is toast. I
can hit the F2 key to get to the set up screen where I can look
elsewhere for a bootable O/S. (It currently says, "Hard Drive: None")
My hunch is that even if all else is OK, probably not worth replacing
a hard drive?

TIA,
Dennis
