Dear Boudewijn Welcome back in RBase community. Indeed there is a big step from the DOS version to the actual Windows version, but you will be excited.
Razzak posted the links for manuals, there is no third party books at this time for the actual version. It's a good advice to have a short instruction by somebody who knows the new version, there is no faster way than this. For an onsite-workshop in UK, perhaps you could ask R:Base partner Neil&Suzy at Aspen Software, located in Earley, Reading, Berkshire. The contact could be find at http://www.rbase.com/partners.php. Another possibility would be to make a remote session as a startup. Let me know by personally e-mail, if you think about that. To get in personal contact with other RBase user, you're welcome on user group meetings. As far as I know the RUG-CH is the only one in Europe with periodical meetings, next is scheduled for September 15 in Baden/Zurich, Switzerland. Of course you could use the journey also for a workshop before or after the meeting. Contact [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. At the moment we have no public training scheduled in Europe, but of course you could ask for individual workshop at any time. And of course there are the trainings, boot camps and conference at RBTI in Monroeville/Pittsburgh. You see, there are a lot of possibilities, it's up to you! ;) Let me know, if I can do something for you. Best Regards from Switzerland Adrian Von: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Im Auftrag von E. Bolhuis Gesendet: Donnerstag, 16. Juni 2011 14:20 An: RBASE-L Mailing List Betreff: [RBASE-L] - Hello Hello Rbase'rs AsI have just joined the mailing list, I would like to give you a bit of background information about me. I am a Dutchman, living in the UK with my wife and two children. My link with RBase goes back some thirty years, starting with RBase 2.11 (if I remember correctcly!) in the early eighties. At the time I used it for my work. I kept using it until version 4.5++ when, due to a change in circumstances/priorities I stopped using it. Only recently, after more than 20 years of rbase inactivity, I have started using it again! As you can imagine, the first time I started Rbase 9.1, I felt totally lost. Not surprising in view of the difference between Dos version 4.5++ and Windows version 9.1! Luckily, I am getting more and more familar with it, but there is still much catching-up to do. and I may have some questions from time to time. To start with. 1) Are there any really good reference books out there? I could not find anything worth while in the UK. Any advice? I would appreciate your input. Best regards, Boudewijn
