Bill,

Windows 10 requires a minimum of 1GB of memory for the 32 bit and 2GB for
the 64 bit version. If you are running the 64 bit version then you are
running with the bare minimum required to run the OS. With 32 bit OS, any
memory beyond 4 GB will not be used; however the 64 bit version will take as
much as you can install. I am testing a tiny PC, the size of 2 packs of
cigarettes with Windows 10 that uses the new Intel board with 2BG and 32 GB
of solid state storage and I find it that even this low powered computer
runs faster than a comparable Windows 7 laptop. I have 6 computers that I
use to test software (1 Vista, 1 XP PRO, 2 Win7 Pro, 1 Win Home,1 Win 10)
plus a server and all of them except for the Win 10 unit have at least 4 GB
of memory. Based on my personal experience, if I were to get a new
laptop/tablet for daily use, I would get one with at least 8 GB of memory
and 16 GB for a desktop.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - RE: RBASE 9.5 and Windows 10 compatibility

Has anyone tested RBASE 9.5 with Windows 10?

I have a tablet with Windows 10 and RBASE 9.5 64bit seems pretty slow.

Is it a compatibility issue or does Windows 10 take more memory which slows
down RBASE? The tablet only has 2 GB memory.

Thanks.
