6.5++ has a suite of CVAL keywords that will let you locate all the drives
in the machine, tell which ones are removeable, and then query the volume
labels on the disks in the drive. Assuming you control the burning of the
CD with the database, you simply need to "code" the volume label with an
identifiable string, then write a little bit of startup code in R:Base to
find the right volume in one of the removeable drives.
