Congratulations on the release of Inline Patch 1 ! Once again, you have gone above and beyond !
While beta testing this release, we were able to incorporate many of the new features, especially the SATTACH enhancements into a live application. I think that everyone here is amazed by the impact that TGRB65 ++ + has had on our operation. Just one example ... Using TGRB65, we have completed physical inventory of 82 locations having a total of over 36,000 parts. In the past, we would count these items, manually key the count into our Unix based application and hope for the best. This would take somewhere around 4 plus hours per location.
Our new application utilizes an obdc connection to our Unix host to gather inventory location information, breaks the information into specific location files, and places them on an ftp site.
The remote user then gets the file from the site, uses the Rbase application along with a bar code scanner to gather the count. While scanning the items, Rbase is checking for errors and informs the user to recount if necessary. Once the count is complete, the results are returned to the ftp site.
Once the file is retuned to the ftp site, Rbase detects the file, processes the results into various reports and the generates a script file that contains all of the key strokes for the data entry.
Next the LAUNCH command executes an automated telent session and sends the key entry file to the Unix host.
After the key entry process is completed, Rbase then gets the results from the Unix host via the obdc connection to verify that all key entries are correct.
The end result is that our process now takes LESS than 1 HOUR per location. Incredible !!!
